Studio

What would you like to make?

Make something from a memory. Nothing changes until you save it — have a look around.

Studio · Voice

Hear a memory in their voice

Record for a couple of minutes, and we’ll read one saved memory back as a quick preview — a taste of how the full archive sounds.

Your recording is private. It’s used only to make this one sample, and the cloned voice is deleted right after. Nothing is kept automatically — you choose whether to keep or download the finished sample.
Making a sample uses  3 photo credits — recording is free.
Studio · Voice

Record for a couple of minutes

Tap the microphone and read the line below to start, then keep going with the prompts. A quiet room and a natural speaking voice give the best result. A minute and a half to three minutes gives the truest voice.

“Hello, I’m recording this for my family. The lake-house summers were the best part of every year.”

Making your sample…

This takes a few seconds. We’re shaping a memory into the voice.

Hear the result

Here is a memory, read in their voice.

“…”

Nothing is kept automatically — keep or download this sample to hear it again later.

This is a quick preview

It’s made from your short clip, so it only approximates the voice. With the Voice Family Archive ($299), every memory plays in their voice — tap any portrait on the Memory Wall and hear that moment, just as they told it.

Your photo is safe. We repair damage and add color — we never change faces, features, or who’s in the picture. Your original on your device is untouched; the restored copy is saved separately.

Repairing damage first, then adding color. This can take a minute or two.

Guided family tree prompts

Family tree

How the people connect

Built from the connections below. Generations are inferred from parent / spouse / sibling links. This view is fully offline-safe — no AI required to draw it.

Add at least two people and one connection to see the tree.
Connections

Link two people

Connections are the real graph edges that build the tree. Parent → child is directional; spouse and sibling are mutual.

AI suggestions

Find people and connections in the memories

Reads the processed memories for this project and proposes people and links. Nothing is saved until you confirm each one. Online intake only — requires a signed-in Supabase session with the family-graph-mine function deployed.

How stories are handled

Story preferences

We'll leave these exactly as you write them, even when tidying a story.
We won't ask questions from skipped topics. You can turn them back on anytime.

Changing the voice updates new questions and future memories right away. Existing memories keep their current wording until you re-narrate.

Privacy

Your privacy

A plain-language summary of how LegacyFile handles your memories. If you have a question this doesn't answer, email support@legacyfile.org.

Your memories are private to you

Everything you add — your stories, your photos, your family details — is tied to your own account. Only you can see it. We don't make it public, and we don't share it with other users.

Your photos are stored securely

Photos you upload are kept in private, secure storage. They are not visible to anyone outside your account.

We only save the words, never the recording

If you choose to talk instead of type, your speech is turned into text and only that text is saved. The audio recording itself is never stored.

Reading a photo of text

If you upload a photo of text, we first try to read it right on your device. If that doesn't work well and you choose "Try harder with AI," that one image is sent securely to our AI provider only to read the words — it isn't used for anything else.

You stay in control

You can edit or delete anything you've saved from the Edit page, any time before your LegacyFile is submitted. After it's submitted, just email us if you need a change.

We don't sell or share your data

We do not sell your information or share it with advertisers. We use it only to build the LegacyFile you asked us to create.

What you receive

When your LegacyFile is finished, your stories and photos are packed into a private interactive website — your Memory Wall — and loaded onto a USB drive that is mailed to your home.

Questions about your privacy? Email support@legacyfile.org.
