Print a physical copy of your LegacyFile book
Your LegacyFile archive is complete. A printed book is optional — you can download your files and order copies directly from an independent print-on-demand service, or take them to a local print shop.
LegacyFile does not receive a commission from the services listed below and is not involved in printing, payment, production, or shipping. We provide the digital book files; your family chooses the printer and places the order.
Your book
Your files are yours to keep. You can print one copy now, return later to print more, or bring everything to a local printer.
Download your print package
Includes the interior PDF, cover artwork, cover text, technical specifications, and a plain-language printing guide.
Use this when a printing service asks for your manuscript or book-interior file.
Use these files when a printing service asks you to design or upload a cover.
One extra step: create the wraparound cover
The book interior is ready to upload. The final wraparound cover must be created after you select a printer — and that's normal. The printer calculates the width of the spine from your page count, paper choice, and binding choice.
Upload the front-cover artwork from your LegacyFile package into the printer's cover-building tool. Your package also contains a visual cover preview and copy-and-paste text for the spine and back cover.
Where to print it
Lulu
Best for: a straightforward private family book with a guided cover-building process. Lulu supports private-access projects and provides a cover-creation tool after the interior PDF is uploaded.
- Create a Lulu account and select Print Book.
- Choose 6 × 9 inches, then paperback or hardcover.
- Upload the LegacyFile interior PDF and choose no bleed for the interior.
- Open Lulu's cover tool and upload the LegacyFile front-cover image.
- Add the spine and back-cover text from the cover-copy file.
- Preview carefully, then order one proof copy before ordering several.
Blurb
Best for: private gift books with a heavier emphasis on photographs. Blurb supports private projects and trade-book printing. Some Blurb workflows require extra formatting steps, so review its current upload instructions before beginning.
Amazon KDP Print
Best for: families comfortable using a publishing platform, or who want an Amazon listing. KDP is a publishing service rather than the simplest private-printing workflow — ordering author copies is tied to a live book, so it isn't the default recommendation for a private family archive.
Bookvault
Best for: families interested in premium finishes or a wider range of production choices. A more advanced route — it may require a printer-specific wraparound cover PDF rather than only the front-cover artwork in the standard LegacyFile package.
IngramSpark
Best for: families or authors who want expanded retail or library distribution, or who already understand self-publishing workflows. Not the easiest route for a private one-off family book — included as an advanced option.
| Service | Good for private family use | Simple cover builder | Public publishing required | Typical user |

About pricing
Printing cost is paid directly to the printer. Prices vary by provider and the options you select — page count, color or black-and-white interior, binding, paper, number of copies, shipping, and taxes. Use the links above to view a current quote for your book.
Always order one proof copy first
Before ordering several copies, order a single copy and review:
- Front, spine, and back-cover alignment
- Photograph quality and page order
- Table of contents, captions, and blank pages
- Text near the gutter, paper selection, and binding quality
LegacyFile provides the digital files. Questions about a physical copy should be directed to the printing company your family selected.
Prefer to work with a local printer?
You can also bring the downloaded interior PDF and cover kit to a local print shop or independent book printer. A local printer can be a good choice when you want personal assistance, need several copies, or prefer to inspect paper and binding samples in person.
Ask whether the printer offers:
- 6 × 9-inch perfect-bound paperbacks and short-run book printing
- A proof copy before the full order
- Cream or white uncoated interior paper, full-color covers
- Black-and-white or color interiors
- Help creating a wraparound cover from the supplied artwork
LegacyFile provides digital book files only. Printing, payment, shipping, production times, and physical-book support are handled by the printer selected by your family. Your interior PDF is designed to work with common 6 × 9-inch book-printing services; each printer has its own upload process and cover requirements.
